MLB Trafalgar Square Takeover

While at Imagination I had the pleasure of working on the MLB Trafalgar Square Takeover. This was a 3 day event where a fan zone was set up in Trafalgar Square as part of the Major League Baseball London Series.

At the heart of the experience sat ‘Home Run Derby X The Cage’, a immersive digital baseball experience. The Cage gave visitors the chance to hit home runs in Trafalgar Square by hitting physical baseballs which were digitally visualised across the iconic London skyline.

Players would hit a physical ball into a net at which point the trajectory of the ball would be calculated and displayed on a giant screen. The player would score points based on how far they hit the ball as well as any additional targets they may have hit. This was visualised using Unreal Engine.

My role on the project included the following:

- Creating immersive details in the environment such as London buses driving by, birds flying, etc.

- Having the environment switch to "hot streak mode"

- Switching to different cameras based on where the ball was travelling

- Making sure the correct animations played for each event
